Romantic August Holidays

It's the dog days of summer, but August is chock full of cool romantic holidays for you and your sweetie to celebrate.

Your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend is also your best friend. Spend friendship day reconnecting as friends and do something fun together today. Head to a local water park or cool down at a movie theater and just have fun.

Nothing warms the heart like a smile. Forget arguing this week. Put aside all disagreements and give each other a smile and an 'I Love You'.

This goes right along with Smile Week. If you've been arguing, today's the day to suck it up and forgive each other.

If you've never been to a lighthouse, you're missing out. Visit one at dusk and bring along a picnic and a bottle of wine. You can watch the sun set over the water together.

Time to get back to the basics. The grand gestures are always appreciated, but it's the little things that really build a romantic relationship. Stop rushing around and give each other a hug and a kiss. Hold hands as you're walking and give your partner a wink at the dinner table.

It's been a busy summer, so take the day off and spend it together! Book a couple's massage and go out for a romantic, leisurely lunch.

Write a quick little poem letting your sweetie know how you feel and email it to them. For instance:

Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
My love for you.
Is so very true.

Today's the day to do something completely unexpected for your partner to really help them out or take a load off of their shoulders.

Start the day with a hug when you get up. Send a ecard hug greeting to your sweetie during the day. Send a text message with all 00000's (the symbol for hugs). Top it all off with a great big bear hug before you go to bed.

So, we're not in China, but you can still celebrate. Go out for chinese food together and exchange gifts. Want to make it really special? Prepare ahead of time and create your own fortune cookies filled with romantic messages. Buy a bunch of fortune cookies and use tweezers to pull out the messages, then put new ones inside.

Everyone says make up sex is the best sex. If you've been fighting, now is the time to forgive and forget. If you haven't, pick an innocent fight and have fun making up!

Do something romantic for your spouse. Just because.
