I’m not sure how he arranged the entire proposal as I’ve heard it’s difficult to get characters involved. Perhaps he works for Disney? We found that while some are elaborate and over the top — Seal’s proposal to girlfriend Heidi Klum in a custom built igloo on top of a glacier in un-chartered terrain comes to mind — many stars take the more traditional route with rose petals and professions of love while on bended knee. Whether a grand declaration of love or a simple question from the heart, all of these proposal stories fed our desire for romance and love.

Bill Rancic and Giuliana DePandi
The original “Apprentice”, Bill Rancic, surprised girlfriend Giuliana DePandi when she arrived in Chicago. When DePandi got off the plane, a limo was waiting to whisk her away to a nearby helipad. When she arrived, she found Rancic waiting with champagne and her favorite deep-dish pizza. Rancic popped the question mid-air while the pair enjoyed a helicopter ride over downtown Chicago, including spectacular views of the holiday lights.

Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling
With a little help from his sister, actor Dean McDermott co-ordinated a holiday proposal on a Christmas tree farm in Toronto, Canada for girlfriend Tori Spelling. With holiday lights strung a half a mile before, Spelling was treated to a festive display as the couple pulled up in a horse-drawn carriage. Upon getting out, McDermott lead his fiance’-to-be down the lit path to a table for two surrounded by decorated Christmas trees where he proposed over dinner.

Think she was happy? Congrats to them both!

After failing to raise the necessary funds, the groom-to-be decided to take a different approach: sponsorship. His proposal, if aired, will now feature product placements to cover the cost of the commercial. In addition, he signed up his future fiance to appear on several talk shows the next day. Let’s hope she says yes!

Should he go to such extremes? Do the sponsorships take away from the romance of the proposal? Are they in it for the hype?

Some skeptics doubt the surprise factor in this “public declaration of love”. How can one guy meet with Fortune 500 companies, television producers, and publicists to create a proposal without his girlfriend suspecting. Perhaps she actually is in on the plan and it’s all a big sham. Being the romantic that I am though, I’m hoping to see this get guy down on one knee on February 4th.

Now if only he could pass some of his creativity on to other men.
