Valentines Day is the most romantic day of the year for most people. It is because of this that it is also a very popular day for couples to be married.

You can live your own personal fairy tale with a romantic, storybook wedding on Valentine's Day. However, pulling together any wedding can be a challenge. There are so many things to consider! This quick little guide will give you some ideas on how you can have a totally romantic Valentines Day wedding that you will cherish always.

What does romance mean to you? When you think about "romantic things" or even just the word "romance," what immediately pops into your mind? Now think of "romantic wedding". What comes to mind then? These are the things on which you should focus.

Some traditionally "romantic" things that can be incorporated into a wedding:

• a flowing dress
• flowers
• ribbons
• bows
• candle light
• soft music
• personal vows
• a special song
• poetry reading
• a small chapel
• outdoor wedding (in some areas of the country an outdoor wedding on Valentine's Day may be a challenge)

As you plan your Valentines Day wedding, don't allow traditional conventions to hold you back. Think outside of the box and get creative! Write your own vows, decorate with romantic items, have a local children's choir sing, hire someone to recite poetry, the options are limitless. This is YOUR DAY and you can make it any way that you want. Be romantic, be free spirited, be YOU.

Music can most definitely add romance to any environment. Choose some favorite romantic songs or write your own. You can hire a DJ, play a recording or hire a soloist. If you prefer instrumental music, instruments like the harp, flute or piano lend an incredibly romantic air.

Look up popular romantic wedding songs, or just think about the songs that the two of you enjoy listening to. Do you have a special song that means something to the two of you? You may want to include it in your ceremony. There are no real hard, fast rules for creating a romantic atmosphere to your Valentines Day wedding, except that you should follow your own heart.

Writing your own wedding vows can be a very special, romantic touch for your wedding. You can get some guidance from books or websites, or you can wing it and say what is in your heart. Personal wedding vows can incorporate personal promises that you make to each other, things that you cherish in each other and hopes that the two of you have for your future together. You can sit down together and write your vows, or you can do it separately, surprising each other on the day of the ceremony (which is romantic in and of itself).

A Valentines Day wedding is all about romance. With that said, think about ways that you can create a romantic atmosphere. What can you do to give the ambiance of the setting a romantic air? Pretty flowers, romantic music, a flowing dress are all romantic, but you have to decide just what romance means to you.

Some couples draw their guests into creating romance for the service. As the bride walks down the aisle, guests may be asked to toss rose petals onto her path. Guests may be asked to take photos at the reception and even the ceremony. They may be asked to speak about the couple's courtship. The possibilities are limited only by your own imagination.
